Black-Owned Banks

OneUnited Bank

Total assets: $670 million. One United is the first Black internet bank and the largest Black-owned bank in the country, with offices in Los Angeles, Boston and Miami. Their main objective is to provide services to low- to moderate-income African-American communities and even offer workshops to improve financial literacy.

Carver Federal Savings Bank

Total assets: $664 million. This bank is considered the second-largest Black-owned bank in the U.S. Carver Federal Savings Bank provides financial aid, especially to the underserved Black communities.

Industrial Bank

Total assets: $423 million. Industrial Bank operates eight branches across Washington, D.C. One of the primary goals of the Industrial Bank is to provide loans for low to moderate-income Black communities to improve their financial status.

Citizens Trust Bank

Total assets: $411 million. Citizen Trust Bank is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia-based bank and has ten branches in Atlanta, Birmingham and Eutaw. The bank focuses on providing loans, including business and real estate loans. They also offer an affordable housing program, with down payment assistance, for the Black community.

The Harbor Bank of Maryland

Total assets: $280 million. The Harbor Bank of Maryland primarily serves the Baltimore area and currently has seven branches. The bank offers an array of traditional services, including: savings and checking accounts; debit and credit cards; real estate, personal, business, automobile, and other loans.

Black to the Future Action Fund

Black to the Future Action Fund works to transform Black communities into constituencies that build Black political power in cities and states. They work to enact policy that improves the lives of Black people, and to elect Black legislators with progressive values who move progressive policies.
